Hassles in Ariports and Hotels

Traveling is a great experience and probably one of the most favorite activities of all people, but what happens when you get at the airport or the hotel and you experienced one of the following situations:

  • After a looooong line, you finally get to the inmigration cabin but you realized you had lost your passport.
  • You get distracted for a second and then realized your luggaged had been robbed.
  • When you enter in the plane, the attendant told you that your hand-bag is too big and you need to sent it with the checked luggage and after you do it, you realized you had left money or other important stuff there.
  • When you are picking up your luggage and found out it has been opened and destroyed.
  • When you get back to the hotel and found that your room has been burglarized and your most expensive belongings had been stolen.
  • When you're checking out at the hotel and they are charging you for something you didn´t take/used.
  • When you sent your clothes to the hotel laundry and then you get back some of them torned.
If you have experienced one if this(or all) situations, you really know how annoying and irritating could be.

But, the truth is that with a few tips, you can avoid this kind of situations, not only in airports or hotels, but also in any place or situation in every trip you realize.

At the Airport

  • First of all, if you're leaving (or arriving) the country(or another country), your indentification papers are really really important, so a good idea is to buy or get a little hand-bag or wallet where you can carry all the importand documents (ID, Passport, etc) and also that you can have at hand easily at every time you need it.
  • Airports are normally crowd with people, so you need to be careful with your luggage and your belongings. Keep them always at sight and if you need to leave them for a second, ask someone you trust to keep at eye on your things.
  • Always put only essential or valuable items in your hand-bag. Also if they told you you need to check your handbag, be sure to take the most essential or valuable items you'll need in case your bag get lost.
  • When you are packing, be sure that the bag or suitcase is not to full and it would be easy to close it. Also a good practice is to make a list of what things you have in each bag or suitcase, so in case your bag/suitcase get's lost or stolen, you´ll know easily what you´ve lost.

At the Hotel

  • When you leave your room , be sure to take every valuable item with you or put in a safebox.
  • At cheking out, verify and check the list of thing they're charging to you and in case you find anything irregular or something you didn't take or used, talked to the person in charge and ask for exact details about that service: Where it was taken? What hour? day?, etc. And if you travel with children, be sure  they don't take anything of the cooler or order any special service without previous concent.
  • If you have a special dress or suit, or any clothes that can be torned or damaged easily, is better to not use the hotel´s laundry service and apply for a special service if it's avaliable, so you will be sure your clothes would not suffer any damage at all.

In general

  • Always be sure to have all the papers you need (passport, tickets, id) at hand before you leave home. So you will not get a surprised at the airport, hotel, train, when you realized you had forgot and important document or paper.
  • Packed only the things you will need. Pack only the clothes you will wear and try to not packed a change for every day. Try to optimize the space in your bag/suitcase and don´t packed useless things you will not essentially need or you can find in the hotel.
  • If you are packing gifts,if it's possible be sure to take the fragile and most expensive one in your hand-bag.
  • Keep money for emergencies at hand every time. So, if your wallet or purse is stole, you will have money to call someone or get back to the hotel.
  • Try to make your luggage as distinct and unique as posible, so if your bag is quite similar like another person's bag, you will recognize your own one.

Well, I hope this little tips will help you the next time you travel to avoid this kind of common situations and hassles and you will enjoy your trip a 100%.
